The AFC Cup 2018 saw some exciting action in the sixth matchday in the ASEAN Zone. Here is a recap of what happened:

GROUP F:

Ceres Negros FC 0-2 Home United FC (Shafiq 80' Ui-Young 90+4')

Two late goals ensured Singapore's Home United qualified for the ASEAN Zonal semifinals with a win over Philippines' Ceres Negros on Wednesday.

Ceres Negros only needed a draw to ensure their spot in the semifinals but were attacking Home United right from the start. However, Home United's defence held on resolutely as the first-half finished goalless.

The trend continued in the second half but Asad Shafiq curled home a free-kick for Home United as they took a shock lead. Song Ui-Young then converted a penalty to ensure Home United went through as group champions while Ceres Negros also qualified as best placed runners-up.

Shan United FC 1-4 Boeung Ket FC (Min Tun 78' - Maicon 11', 63' Oiboh 25' Ajayi 47')

Cambodia's Boeung Ket FC ended their AFC Cup campaign on a high after a 4-1 win over Shan United on Tuesday.

The visitors got off to a dream start when Maicon latched on to a pass from Samuel Ajayi and finished confidently in the 11th minute. Julius Oiboh doubled Boeung Ket’s advantage in the 25th minute after dribbling in from the left.

Ajayi made it 3-0 in the 47th minute before Shan United were down a man after Phyo Paing Soe was sent off after a foul on Ajayi as the last man. Maicon added a fourth for the Cambodians before Zin Min Tun pulled a consolation back for the hosts. The result meant Shan United finished bottom off the group while Boeung Ket ended as the third team.

GROUP G:

Bali United FC 1-3 Global Cebu FC (van der Velden 71' - Rufo 2', 45+1' Mulders 33')

Indonesia's Bali United went down 1-3 to Philippines' Global Cebu FC in their final AFC Cup Group G game on Wednesday.

Global got off to a great start when Spaniard Rufo headed in from close range that beat Bali United goalkeeper all hands up. Global doubled their lead three minutes after the half-hour mark through a worldie from Paul Mulders. The Filipino intercepted the ball from midfield and unleashed a stinging strike from well outside the box that went in.

Rufo Sánchez then made it 3-0 before half-time as Global capped off a stunning half. Nick van der Velden pulled one back for the home team on 71 minutes but it would not make a difference to the end result. Both teams would not qualify for the semifinals, however.

Thanh Hoa 3-3 Yangon United FC (Faye 11' Thang 38' Karube 80' - Sylla 4', 22' Thein 61')

Vietnam's FLC Thanh Hoa managed a 3-3 draw with Group G toppers Yangon United on Tuesday to end their AFC Cup campaign.

It was the Myanmar team which got off to a good start with Sekou Sylla putting them ahead in the 4th minute. However, Thanh Hoa hit back immediately as Trinh Dinh Hung sent in a cross which was converted by a Pape Omay Faye header. But Sylla restored Yangon's advantage after firing in Maung Maung Lwin’s pass in the 22nd minute.

However, Yangon were caught out at the back in the 38th minute and Le Van Thang was played in by a long ball from defence and the Thang drew Thanh Hoa level again. Maung Maung Lwin then sent in another freekick which was headed in by Zaw Thein at the back post to put Yangon ahead again.

But Ryutaro Karube's header in the 80th minute ensured the game finished level. Yangon are through to the semifinals.

GROUP H:

Johor Darul Ta'zim 3-2 Song Lam Nghe An FC (Rasid 36' Ahmad 39' Rahim 67' - Nguyen 41' Tuan Tai 45+1')

Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim ended their AFC Cup campaign with a 3-2 win over Vietnam's Song Lam Nghe An which ultimately did neither team any favour.

After a sedate start, the game sparked to life towards the end of the first half as Safawi Rasid blasted home from the edge of the area to give Johor the lead. Three minutes later, Syafiq Ahmad headed home La’vere Corbin-Ong’s cross as the score read 2-0. But the Vietnamese hit back with two goals in four minutes before the end of the half.

First Nguyen Viet Nguyen and then Ho Tuan Tai scored to draw the visitors level at 2-2 heading into half time. But a spotkick from captain Safiq Rahim ensured Johor ended the game with all three points and finished Group H in third place behind Song Lam Nghe An.
