Maritime Information Warfare conference, taking place in London on 26th and 27th November 2018 will discuss the role of information in the naval sphere

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, June 21, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- In recent news, sensitive information has been hacked from the US Navy. Hackers have stolen a massive cache of highly sensitive data related to undersea warfare from a US Navy contractor, including secret plans to develop a new type of submarine-launched anti-ship missile.

Stolen material also included information related to a secretive project known as Sea Dragon, as well as signals and sensor data, submarine radio room information relating to cryptographic systems, and the Navy submarine development unit's electronic warfare library [The Telegraph].

This news piece highlights the increasing need for Navies across the globe, in an ever-evolving technological environment, to improve their maritime cyber security capabilities and embrace cyberspace as a new domain of naval warfare.

The growing prevalence of maritime cyber security reflects a wider paradigm shift: the recognition that the utilisation of information is now crucial to naval operational capability; information can be harnessed to gain an advantage over an enemy and can equally be used by an enemy used to disrupt and disturb naval activity. Today, navies are acknowledging the critical need for effective information management, utilisation, and security, in all aspects of their operations.

Attend Maritime Information Warfare conference, taking place in London on 26th and 27th November 2018, where leading experts will discuss the role of information in the naval sphere, including themes such as artificial intelligence, information exploitation, cyber and electromagnetic activity, C4I, and Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR).

The event will also host a post-conference workshop taking place on the 28th November 2018, in the Copthorne Tara Hotel, London, UK between 9 am and 12.30pm. The workshop will be led by Colonel (Ret’d) Ralph Thiele, Director, StratByrd Consulting and will focus on “Cyber Warfare in the Maritime Domain”.

Workshop attendees will explore key themes, concepts, developments and strategies in cyber security today. The workshop will provide an ideal setting for exchange of thoughts and ideas between all participants and the workshop host, allowing for a more holistic exploration of cyber security. The workshop will help shape perspectives and attitudes and allow participants to leave having learned important lessons to cyber security in the maritime domain.

The latest conference brochure is now available to download on the event website, where attendees can also register and receive real-time updates in the lead up to the conference. Register by the 29th June and receive a £300 discount on your booking.
